Project Description

The installed base of the renewable energy systems in the Mad River Valley has been studied twice. Once in 2006 by Dennis Derryberry and most recently in the Fall of 2009 by a group of UVM students as a part of a service learning course.

Current Status of Project

This part of the MRV Energy Study took a big leap forward in the Fall of 2009 from some tremendous work done by a student team who researched the renewable energy installations in the Mad River Valley. There is now a spreadsheet of renewable energy installations in the Mad River Valley which can be used for future research and tracking purposes. The information contained in this spreadsheet will be presented in aggregate form and some specific installations will be specifically listed where permission has been given, but the spreadsheet is not planned to be publicly posted.

Project Plan

It would be good to act on the lessons learned from the UVM class when taking up this effort again.

Funding Sources

It would be great to be able to fund further study to get a solid baseline of renewable energy systems in the valley, along with the development of a system which could stay more actively abreast of new installations as they happen.
